History

Lund’s Studentskegård is the only female student housing in Sweden. It was founded after two donations to Lund’s University: Gustaf Coyet donated money for the 250th anniversary of the University, in 1918, to build housing for less fortunate students. Lilly Quennerstedt donated a big lot next to her own home after the death of her husband. Her intention was to create a housing for female students.

Money for the furnitures was collected with help from Princess Louise and the wives of the county governors of the twelve most southern counties of Sweden. The furnitures were designed by the famous Carl Malmsten and the fabrics were supplied by Svensk hemslöjd. Lund’s Studentskegård was built in 1937.
